Worldwide Accommodation for FREE!?

Here at Hen’s, we endeavour to find you the best sites and deals on the internet. This one is one of my very personal favourites, so I’m going to share it with you all! Not only is this website an ingenious idea, but it’s totally FREE to all users. This is such an exciting website, that I can't stop telling everyone about it! It's something that I have never come across before, and it has been extremely well thought out, and is so well done! Hen's gives this site the big thumbs up!

 GlobalFreeloaders is a website that was started by a young, enterprising Australian by the name of Adam Staines. At 21, Adam describes himself as being cursed with the travel bug, and has travelled Europe, Africa, and North and South America. Whilst on his travels, Adam came across many friendly travellers from all over the world. It is through his own travel experience and the experiences of many other travellers, that Adam came up with the Globalfreeloaders website.

Adam says  “GlobalFreeloaders is a network of people willing to accommodate travellers completely at their own convenience, in any way that they can. Completely free of charge. Whether it’s just a spare mattress or a spare bedroom or even a granny flat. Most budget travellers aren't too picky. :) Think about it...on average approximately one third of a budget traveller's costs are spent on accommodation. Imagine if you could dramatically lower, if not completely eliminate, that cost by being able to stay for free in people's homes all over the world. That means more money in your pocket to spend on having a great time on your travels. Not only do you get free accommodation but you also get the inside knowledge, experience and culture that comes with staying with a local that you'd never be exposed to staying in a hotel or hostel.”

The wonderful thing about the site is that it’s a win-win situation! It involves a bit of give and take from all its members. To be a Guest in someone’s home, you must agree to also become a Host. You can’t be one without the other. As a Guest, you can register on the site for free and gain access to the network of free accommodation, but it is asked in return that you are able to Host other guests in your home, at times that are convenient for you.

On a personal note, I have hosted  people from out of town, as well as overseas guests, and it was a wonderful experience to be able to host these travellers. At first it was a little overwhelming, but after the initial meeting, and getting to know each other,  I have since made some genuine friends!! 

Not only do you make new friends worldwide, but often they’re more than happy to host you in their country when you are travelling! Everyone's travel experiences are fun to hear, and it certainly helps tourism in your country. By not having to pay for accommodation, your guests are spending their money in your town and community!
