Do Women check out other Women?
It’s a known fact. As soon as our friends, foes or work colleges walk into a room, the first thing we do is check out what they’re wearing, how they look, then we notice the hair, face and makeup.
Why we do this is a mystery to ourselves, and to men. We tell men we like to check out what they’re wearing, but really, are we checking to see if they have suddenly put on 10 pounds more than you, or are we checking to see if their butt looks big or if they look better than you? We all look, and I’m sure you’ve caught yourself looking another woman up and down, without even realising it. You know you have!
We like to see what they’re wearing, and instantly we decide weather it looks good or bad. Not only do we do this in everyday life, but take for instance the Hollywood celebrities. They’re photographed at their most glamorous, and we love checking them out. Their gowns, their shoes, their hair, the lot. However, we also love to see the pics of them at their most vulnerable, with no makeup, looking daggy in sweats and no ‘just come from the hairdresser’ hair do’s.
We love this because we have days just like that too! Not everyone is glamorous 100% of the time! We love getting dressed up, showing off our new clothes, shoes and hair do’s, and it’s then that we start getting catty and bitchy about what others are wearing! God forbid she has last summer’s hairstyle!
Why women all over the world do this is a mystery, but it’s a mystery that will never change, and unfortunately it’s something that society has made worse. We are now more conscience of what we look like, wondering ‘does this make me look fat?’ or ‘what will everyone else be wearing?’ and because we go to such pains to look good, we like to check out what the 'opposition' is wearing, just to make sure they’ve gone to just as much trouble as you…and if another woman gives you a compliment on what you are wearing, it's obviously a hit...but don’t worry, it’s usually when you go for the ‘who cares what everyone else is wearing’ that you look your best!
